The Second Half of the Ritual
Why this conditioner exists
Bồ Kết cleanses mildly — but saponins do not condition. After cleansing, hair was often rinsed with rice water to leave it softer, smoother, and easier to manage. Maison Bạch translates that traditional rinse into a modern conditioner: the same principle, standardised through fermentation and formulated for hair that needs strength without weight.
Mechanism
Inositol shaft penetration
Inositol is small enough to penetrate the hair shaft rather than coating its surface. Research confirms it remains in the fibre after rinsing, reinforcing the internal keratin structure against breakage.
Best For
Fine, straight, normal, or oilier hair
Hair with a tighter cuticle that is easily weighed down by heavier conditioning agents. Inositol delivers genuine strengthening without the surface deposit that causes build-up.
Why fermentation
Amino acids the fibre can use
Fermentation breaks the rice proteins down into smaller amino acids and peptides — small enough to interact with the hair rather than sit on it. It is the step that turned a traditional rinse into something the fibre could actually take up.
Not sure this is right for you?
Rice water or coconut — how to choose
The Rice Water Conditioner uses an inositol penetration mechanism — ideal for hair that is easily weighed down. If your hair is thick, curly, dry, or chemically processed, the Coconut Conditioner may serve you better.

After shampooing
Apply to mid-lengths and ends only — not the scalp.
02
Leave for 2–3 minutes
Allow inositol time to penetrate the hair shaft.
03
Rinse thoroughly
No residue. No build-up. The conditioning is structural, not cosmetic.
Where softness lives
Light or rich
— a matter of hair, not quality
Our shampoo is built to leave as little behind as possible. The softness comes here, in the second step — applied to the lengths, where hair actually needs it.
How much care that is depends on your hair. Fine hair that is easily weighed down needs less. Thick, curly or dry hair needs more. So we made two conditioners, rather than one that tries to suit everyone.
