“This began not with shampoo. It began with a simple question — how did we care for our hair before any of this existed?”

For years I struggled with an itchy, irritated scalp. I tried everything the pharmacy and the internet had to offer — medicated shampoos, expensive treatments, elaborate routines. Nothing worked for longer than a few weeks.

Then I thought of my grandmother — a woman with incredibly long, thick hair, almost two meters — who relied on simple botanical rituals passed down through generations. She never used a commercial shampoo in her life. She simmered Bồ Kết pods over a fire and washed her hair with the decoction.

I grew up with a particular understanding of care. You did not always say that you cared for someone. You showed it. You prepared something for them. You saved the best for them. You made sure they were looked after. I did not think of this as a beauty philosophy. It was simply home.

I went back to those rituals. And then, with my background as an auditor — trained never to trust what couldn’t be verified — I began to ask why they worked. What was actually happening at the level of the scalp, the hair fibre, the molecule? The answers were extraordinary — and almost none of them had been told to a European audience.

As I began looking more closely at beauty, I found myself asking a simple question: could modern beauty carry that same feeling of care?

That question became Maison Bạch. This is not a brand that borrows a story. It is my family’s, and I am carrying it forward honestly — the traditions of Vietnam, translated into formulations that respect both the tradition and the evidence.

I am a CPA. In my profession, transparency is not a value you choose, it is the job. You do not tell someone a number is right, you show them how you got there. So when I started looking at hair care, what I missed most was not another ingredient. It was the willingness to show the reasoning: ingredient lists without context, claims without sources, concentrations nobody would tell me.

I could not find the brand I wanted to buy from, so I decided to build it. That is why Maison Bạch shows its work: every ingredient, every claim, and every open question, in the open. A guest deserves to know exactly what they are given.

Every ingredient still has to earn its place, and every claim still has to be defensible — my grandmother would have expected nothing less. But underneath the science, the promise of this house is simpler. To care for you the way I was cared for, and to make something honest enough to earn a place in your home.
